This wedding is an absolute miracle

Former hostages Sasha Troufanov and Sapir Cohen are finally married!!!
The first thing I noticed when I watched the video of Sapir walking down the aisle was that Sasha walked on his own two feet, down to meet her.
When I met him in December, and I interviewed him on stage at a conference about his story of capture, trauma, and recovery, Sasha was still injured from his time in Gaza.
He walked with crutches.
Now, he walked down the aisle unaided into the arms of his wife-to-be.
Later in the night, I saw videos of him dancing freely with his friends- so free.
I can't even tell you how that makes me feel. Healing in real time.
After all the conversations he and I shared this past winter, I can tell you with certainty that Sasha and Sapir's story is beyond comprehension.
The way they were captured by Hamas.
The way each one of them survived.
How they waited for each other.
Even when it felt like the world had forgotten about them.
This wedding is an absolute miracle, in every sense of the word.
These two deserve a lifetime (and more) of happiness and love together.
They represent resilience, patience, and the power to rebuild a life.
Mazal tov, you two!!!!!!
Thank you to President Herzog for posting this great picture of him at the chuppah
