A reminder for all of us

Noam Bettan and his team are home safe in Israel after winning second place in Eurovision.

Very often in the off season, when there is protesting and sniping and boycotts of Israel from European countries, I wonder:

Why bother with Eurovision at all?

If they don’t want us, why enter a room where everyone hates us?

But the thing is- for the last five years, we’ve placed in the top five.

This is the second year in a row that we’ve made it to second place too.

I think that means, that everyone does NOT hate us.

Actually, maybe just the newscasters like BBC hate us, but the people- adore us?

Vote for us?

Eurovision reached over 160 million people.

And no matter how unpleasant the room is, the protestors, the anti Israel crowds, the chanting against us…

Our talent always walks in the rooms with their heads held high.

Love in their hearts.

Their people behind them.

Their talent and soulfulness break through all the noise.

They literally reach the top.

An amazing moment where love is louder than hate.

Noam said Shema Yisrael while he was waiting for the results.

He sang with a smile on his face, with words of gratitude for the experience and his people.

The Israeli flag on his back.

Maybe Eurovision isn’t for Europe to see how amazing we are.

Maybe it’s a reminder for all of us.

Mazal tov, Noam.

Welcome home.
