Who is like you, people of Israel????

An absolutely terrifying situation unfolded today in the skies: a flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia after what passengers described as a violent attack inside the cockpit.

Apparently, one pilot stabbed the other and tried to force him out of the cockpit, with the intention of plunging the plane. Israeli passengers rushed forward, fought the pilot/attacker, and managed to remove him so that two other pilots who were traveling on the flight could get inside. One of them regained control of the aircraft which was plummeting from the sky.

An Israeli dentist on board treated the wounded pilot, who was critically injured, and was credited with saving his life.

Israeli officials suspect the co-pilot was attempting to deliberately crash the plane when he attacked the captain. That is still a preliminary assessment, and his motive has not been established definitively. There are reports that the passengers heard shouts of “Allahu Akbar” during the struggle.

Passengers are now on the ground in Saudi Arabia, waiting for another plane to bring them to Israel. Hoping an Israeli one.

The attacker was Omani, the captain from India, Captain Smit Machchhar- and the bada** Israelis on the plane flying home busted into the cockpit and saved the day.

Horrifying.

Unreal.

Too real.

Very scary morning here in Israel. We couldn’t breathe as it was unfolding.

Now there are videos and pictures coming out of passengers and pilots covered in bl**d and recalling what transpired.

And yet also, there’s now a video circulating of the Israeli passengers singing “Am Yisrael chai” and “Od avinu chai” as they landed safely.

An utter miracle.

A nightmare waiting to unfold.

We don’t understand enough yet, but I’ll just say this.

Don’t mess with Israelis.

No wonder we need to be more prepared, more alert, more vigilant, more ready than any other people on earth.

We will save ourselves and then sing about how committed we are to living.

Bless our people.

Hope they get home safely asap
