Follow the money

I think we're all following this phenomenon of silence on the left in response to the revolution in Iran.
It is so counterintuitive- people who claim to care about liberal ideals, human rights, protesting against what they deem to be gen*cidal, and or unacceptable on the global stage.
You see them chanting for H*mas, for captured dictators to be freed, doing stupid things for stupid causes, acting in nonsensical ways that you can't really figure out.
At first, I thought it was purely antisemitism.
People h*te Jews, anything that has to do with Jews is vilified.
Makes sense, right?
And yes, that's still there.
But lately, things have been starting to shift.
Other causes that deserve celebration or denouncement have been completely ignored.
The campuses that were bursting with vehemence for G*za, are shockingly empty.
Protestors are ignoring the will and well-being of the Venezuelan people and supporting their oppressor, in the streets instead.
No one is saying boo about the Iranian people under a*tack by their government.
And as an Israeli, I had to stand back and wonder- what the heck is going on here?
I did some digging and realized.
It's all about two things.
Money and clout.
The protest industry is massive and well-funded.
Iran and Qatar paid for most of what we have seen since Oct 7th- protests in the streets and campuses all over the world.
But Iran is in trouble, and so no one is paying those protest bills.
I'm not saying that all protestors were paid.
Though I know many were.
But there is a whole radicalized movement behind the protests, paid for by radicalized people.
So no, there's barely any protests to support the people of Iran.
Because those movements were paid for by the IRGC itself.
Let me say that again:
Those who claim human rights and scream about gen*cide in G*za - that movement was bought and paid for by the most significant abusers of human rights. Who are currently m*ssacring their people in the double-digit thousands in the streets.
And the celebrities?
If it's not cool, they aren't talking about it.
If it doesn't give them traction, it's not worth the risk to their careers.
Virtue signaling only works if someone sees your performative activism or outrage as "good." "Politically correct."
Something that people are talking about.
I do honestly believe that a lot of the post Oct 7th protests were fueled by antisemitism. That doesn't change the fact that you won't learn about Iran's radicalism on campus, because the campus itself has been paid for by radicalists. Installed radicalists as professors.
It's not in their interest to care about the Iranian people.
It's the government that pays their rent.
So when you wonder, "Where is everyone?"
Remember- follow the money.
